In May/June 2021, the original meta-analyses based on 18 randomized controlled treatment trials was published titled “Review of the Emerging Evidence Demonstrating the Efficacy of Ivermectin in the Prophylaxis and Treatment of COVID-19.

On July 15, 2021 Melissa L Davey in the Guardian News, dismissed the study as “rightwing” and stated it was being withdrawn due to ethical concerns.

In July 2021, a letter to the Editor of the Journal in which the analysis was published responded to the Guardian newspaper article’s claims; 1) the manuscript was withdrawn and 2) “if you get rid of just this research, most meta-analyses that have found positive results would have their conclusions entirely reversed” stating the:
- First claim seems untrue at this writing
- Second claim is not sustainable

Conclusions by the esteemed Dr. Sherry Tenpenny in early September :
- “There are large, statistically significant reductions in mortality, time to clinical recovery, and time to viral clearance
- Results from numerous controlled prophylaxis trials report significantly reduced risks of contracting COVID-19 with the regular use of Ivermectin
- Many examples of Ivermectin distribution campaigns leading to rapid population-wide decreases in morbidity and mortality indicate that an oral agent effective in all phases of COVID-19 has been identified“
