According to Open Payments data highlights for $9.12 Billion given to physicians and teaching hospitals in  
6.38 Million records. See what your physician or teaching hospital was rewarded for the year 2020.

The CMS site states, “Open Payments is a national disclosure program that promotes a more transparent and accountable health care system. Open Payments houses a publicly accessible database of payments that reporting entities, including drug and medical device companies, make to covered recipients like physicians”.

In 2021 Open Payments expanded to include five additional provider types. Beginning 1/1/21 reporting was required on payments made “to physicians and teaching hospitals as well physician assistants, nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, certified registered nurse anesthetists and anesthesiologist assistants, and certified nurse-midwives”.

“Program Year 2021 data will be reported to CMS and published in calendar year 2022”.
